Well, baby led weaning (BLW) is certainly a whole new adventure for Chance and I. For those who aren't yet in the know, BLW is a form of weaning where, instead of pureeing food and then moving up onto lumpy food etc, you give your child whatever you are eating as finger foods. There is, of course, slightly more to it than that, but that is about the main idea of it. We decided to take this route because Kezia, who had always been good at eating her proper food, suddenly decided that she didn't want to be fed on a spoon by mum. Oh no, she knew how to do her own finger food already and decided for herself that eating on her own with us is far more interesting than having her own spoon-fed mealtime. And who can blame her!
We've had adventures with all food types now and her range of foods is ever increasing, from gentle curries and breads to full dinnes, sandwiches, panini's ... you name it, she's pretty much tried it, mushed it between her fingers and then lobbed it around the dining room!
It is great fun, far less time consuming than making purees up all the time and incredibly messy!
Today was lamb slow cooked with cranberry jus, spinach, baby carrots, broccoli, mashed potato and peas ... the spinach was certainly the most sticky ...
