Well ... what a day Sunday the 13th May was this year!
Kez woke up bright and early on the morning of her birthday and gleefully ran into our bedroom shouting "I is Ffreeee fingeys old today" whilst brandishing her last 3 fingers on one hand in the air!
And do you know what, she was right! The birthday bunny had been and visited in the night and left a small collection of presents to open.
Then we had a birthday lunch and Grum and Grandpa arrived. They had got Kezia a lovely bundle of pressies which she loved. A skewbald fluffy horse (in a matching bag) has become a favourite and has been given the name of Blommas; named for Aunty Sue's horse which is neither skewbald nor called Blommas but is in fact a grey horse called Blossom. But I can see where she's coming from!
Grum and Grandpa had also bought Kezia her first Ballet outfit, which she starts this Thursday. It is a beautiful white leotard with a little skirt, white hairband for her bun, white ballet shoes, white socks and I've knitted a white sparkly ballet cardigan to go alongside it. She loves to do ballet to her Ballet DVD so she will be blown away to start ballet this week.
Then came the time for the BIG PRESENT. For this, Grum and Grandpa had to follow us in our cars. We parked at a lovely house and then all of us ran down the drive to wait at the bottom of it for the gift to be delivered. Eventually round the corner came Aunty Sue (Suzie), Uncle Trevor (Trebor) and their son, Harry. Being pulled behind their landie was a big trailer with lots and lots of pink balloons hanging off it. Now what could this be?
We all ran back up the drive behind the landie and waited for Trebor to open the doors. And there, stood in the trailer, was Suzie, Harry and a beautiful chestnut miniature Shetland called Gilda. Yes, we have bought Kezia a shetland! Suzie found Gilda for sale a few months ago thought she would be perfect for our Kez. Since about March Gilda has been over in Suzie's fields chilling out whilst Kez and I went over once a week with Grum to go and get to know her. Kezia has ridden her a couple of time already and is totally in love with her. And I'm rather smitten too!
We had a lovely birthday picnic in the stables before leaving a very tired Gilda nodding off in the stable !
It really was a most amazing and wonderful day. I shall never forget it. The effort everyone went to in order to make it happen - thank you so much guys. We love you all.
And here is the video of Kezia's Birthday:
